The Missed Train

Chapter 1 · A Moment Too Late

On an early morning platform, Li Chen dragged his weary steps, clutching a folder of interview papers. This was supposed to be the most important opportunity of his life.
The train was about to depart, and just as he stretched out his hand to grasp the door, it began to move away. Only the sound of the rushing wind remained, leaving him with a hollow ache in his chest.
“It’s over…” he whispered, as if a stone had been placed on his heart.

Chapter 2 · A Forced Pause

Helpless, Li Chen sat in the waiting hall, eyes fixed on the ticking clock of his phone. Streams of passengers passed by, yet he could only drown in self-blame.
If only he had been faster… if only he hadn’t lost those few minutes… His thoughts spun like a whirlpool. The world around him blurred, and all that remained was the rhythm of his disappointed heartbeat.

Chapter 3 · An Unexpected Encounter

Just as he sank into despair, an elderly man with silver hair but sharp, lively eyes sat down beside him.
Glancing at the folder in Li Chen’s hands, the man smiled:
“Young man, you look like you’ve just missed something important.”
Li Chen nodded faintly.
“Sometimes,” the elder said, his voice calm and steady, “a missed chance isn’t a loss. It’s life guiding you toward what truly belongs to you.”

Chapter 4 · A New Awakening

They spoke for a long while—about crossroads, failures, and second chances. Slowly, a quiet light returned to Li Chen’s heart.
He began to realize: perhaps this missed train wasn’t the end, but the beginning of another path.
By the time the next train arrived, his heart was no longer heavy with regret. Instead, it carried an unexpected peace.

Chapter 5 · Destiny’s Turn

A few days later, Li Chen happened to attend a small seminar. It was only because he had missed that train that he had the time to walk into that room.
There, he met a business mentor whose words deeply resonated with him. That chance encounter became the true turning point of his career—and his life.

Chapter 6 · Looking Back at the Missed Train

Years later, Li Chen stood as a successful entrepreneur. Whenever he passed a train station, he recalled the young man he once was—anxious, devastated, nearly hopeless.
Now, he smiled and told himself:
“It was that missed train that set me on the road meant for me.”

Moral: Sometimes what we call a missed chance is life’s way of opening the door to our real destiny.
